Michael B. Jordan Among Those Named During Diddy’s Jury Selection

Jury selection in Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking and racketeering criminal trial began on Monday (May 5).

Potential jurors were questioned about their knowledge of select celebrities who may be brought up during the trial. Among those mentioned, multiple prospective jurors flagged Kanye West, Yung Miami, Kid Cudi, Mike Myers, and Michael B. Jordan, whilst noting that they didn’t know the celebrities personally.

Rolling Stone reported that while Jordan won’t be called as a witness in the trial, his name was mentioned because of his past relationship with Cassie Ventura. Their 2015 romance was referenced in the singer’s 2023 lawsuit against Combs. During a period when she and Diddy were not together, she “began a flirtatious relationship with an actor” — now revealed to be the Sinners star. When the disgraced mogul found out, Combs allegedly “called the actor and threatened him.”

The lawsuit read, “The actor proceeded to call Ms. Ventura and tell her, ‘you really need to call [Mr. Combs].’” Ventura is set to testify against Combs.

Potential jurors were additionally given a “lengthy questionnaire” about their overall knowledge of the case. Many confirmed that they obtained knowledge through documentaries, news reports, and social media. They were also asked “if they watched crime shows, where they gathered their news from, if they had an opinion on Hip-Hop, [if they] had ever experienced a traumatic event, and if they ‘believe that wealthy people get away with things that the less wealthy do not.’”

Jury selection is expected to last three days with opening statements set to begin on May 12. Per Rolling Stone, Combs was admittedly a “little nervous today,” but remained “attentive throughout the selection process, whispering to his counsel on potential jurors he approved or disapproved of.”

If convicted on five felony counts of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, Combs will face 15 years to life in prison.
