Tyga Announces Mother’s Death In Emotional Post

Tyga revealed that his mother passed away last month in an emotional Instagram post. Taking to the social media app on Friday (Feb. 21), the California rapper shared an assortment of photos and videos remembering his mother Pasionaye Nicole Nguyen. In the caption, he noted his mother passed away on Jan. 18, 2025, at the age of 51 years old.

Although the cause of death is not detailed, one image shows him holding her hand with a hospital band around her wrist. Additional images include throwback photos of the mother-son duo, videos of Nguyen at happy moments, an iMessage screenshot of a loving message sent to Tyga, family images, and a photo from a memorial service.

“I been trying to understand and process why God takes the most meaningful and most beautifulest people away from us. But I know I’ll never get an answer that will fill the emptiness in my heart,” wrote the 35-year-old with the broken heart emoji. “Can’t imagine life without you by my side. You were the best and most supportive person in my life, you always made things better when I felt at my lowest and worst.”

He continued, “I would trade anything just to be able to be with you again,” adding, “I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. and I can’t wait for the day until we’re together again.” The caption ended with the message, “You took one of your best angels back GOD. I hope you know that.”

According to the Brandon’s Restaurant website, Nguyen was born in Vietnam before immigrating to the United States, taking residence in Compton, Calif. Due to Tyga’s father Michael Stevenson’s legal struggles, she had no choice but to embark on the journey of single motherhood. The restaurant noted she was not big on social media, yet enjoyed spending time with her grandson King Cairo, cooking traditional Vietnamese dishes, gardening, and community activities.

VIBE sends our condolences to Tyga and the additional family and friends of Pasionaye Nicole Nguyen.
