Kendrick Lamar won everything at the Bet Hip Hop Awards
Kendrick Lamar was the clear winner of the BET Hip Hop Awards which took place last night. K-Dot won everything, taking home 8 awards mainly for the song Not Like Us. Specifically, he won in the following categories: Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video and Director of the Year thanks to the diss-track and Collaboration of the Year for “Like That”, the song contained in We Don’t Trust You by Future and Metro Boomin.
However, Kendrick did not show up at the Bet Hip Hop Awards and did not collect his numerous awards.
Not just Kendrick Lamar, the other artists awarded were:
Nicki Minaj with Pink Friday 2 for “Hip Hop Album of the Year”
Future and Metro Boomin with “Best Duo/Group”
Sexyy Red as “Best Emerging Hip Hop Artist”
50 Cent as “Hustler of the Year”
Missy Elliot as “Best Live Performer”
The Alchemistsia as “DJ of the Year” and as “Producer of the Year”.
During the evening, Travis Scott was presented with the I Am Hip Hop award and the Houston rapper gave a speech during which he spoke about the difficulties he has encountered in recent years in obtaining a prominent place in the hip hop scene, stressing that he often felt undervalued and overlooked.
