Akbar V Questions Latto Calling Lil’ Kim The GOAT Of Female Rappers, Argues For Nicki Minaj
Akbar V is speaking up for her “Super Freaky Girl (Queens mix)” collaborator Nicki Minaj, arguing that she is the greatest female rapper of all time following Latto proclaiming Lil’ Kim as the true G.O.A.T.
The Love & Hip-Hop alum took to X/Twitter Wednesday (Aug. 14) to share her take on Latto’s claim that the Brooklyn rapper is the most impactful woman to ever grab a mic, starting off her argument by acknowledging Kim’s past as a leader within the culture.
“Lil Kim was the Goat … her and foxy both had they run and did a lot for us female rappers,” she began before continuing, “so did eve, missy elliot , etc but what about when there was a stand still and no label wanted to sign female rappers? Who came and open the door and had the longest run in history Nicki Minaj … so let’s not say Kim is the Goat of all time because no dck grabbing it’s
@NICKIMINAJ. Give that damn girl her flowers when it’s due, yall don’t got to fk with each other but keep it a stack.”
Latto originally proclaimed Lil Kim as the greatest during her Complex chat with sister Brooklyn Nicole, where she first referred to herself as the greatest before recognizing the “Crush On You” rhymer’s impact.
“But like, the GOAT is Lil’ Kim, for sure. [A] fashion icon, [with] timeless music, timeless looks, gon’ forever be a staple, in not only rap, but female rap. And she the GOAT because she is a queen for real, like, off camera, she a queen… I love her, and she ‘Big Mama,’ too. It’s just a ‘Big Momma thang,’” she added in reference to Kim’s 1996 track featuring JAY-Z, as well her own record, “Big Mama.”
While Latto recognizes Kim as the number one female rapper, she acknowledged Minaj back in April when she named the Queens MC in her top 3, though she refused to acknowledge her by name following their social media rift.
“Kim — gotta say Kim,” Latto told Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 radio station when asked about her faves at the time. “Imma say Left Eye — rest in peace Left Eye, and shawty,” with “Shawty” being a reference to Minaj. Check out the clip below.
