Gabby Williams’ Final Shot Solidifies Team USA’s 8th Straight Gold Medal in Women’s Basketball

Team USA’s Women’s Basketball team has continued their winning streak at the Paris Olympics beating France 67-66. Gabby Williams’ 2-point shot sent the team over the top in the final seconds of the game.

To date, Team USA has 61 straight Olympic wins for the U.S. women, and eight straight gold medals.

Kobe Bryant’s family was noticeably present on the sidelines as U.S. guard Sabrina Ionescu could be seen embracing them. Ionescu has long credited Bryant as a “mentor, idol, inspiration, and close friend,” she said.

“We just knew what we had to do,” A’ja Wilson who won MVP. “We believed in each other and that’s the greatest thing about it.” Wilson’s highlights include an impressive 21 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks.

The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. It previously was the site of the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics, the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, and the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics.
